Well, first things first. As I mentioned, Hannah has gotten a fish tank. She had named the fish Stripe, Nemo, Fish, and something else, I think. Sadly enough, two of them died at the hand (or filter?) of the tank.
As we looked at the fish tank the other night, Hannah was reminding me of the importance of letting sleeping fish, well, sleep. Here she is shushing me!
Next up: Jaimi's baby shower was Saturday morning. She's my best friend in the whole wide world. Forgive the high school-esque sentiment. Anyway, she seemed to really enjoy the shower. This is a particularly powerful celebration for her and her family and friends given the heartache they have experienced, and we are so excited God is letting her carry Baby Girl V. to term thus far! Pray that that continues.
Jerry Dunlap died on Friday. He was a wonderful man. I knew him through my mom, who had the pleasure of working for him at Camp NuHop for 13 years as the head cook for summer camps. In the last couple of years, as he began work at my alma mater (Loudonville High School) as a part-time guidance counselor, he also worked with my mom there. This was AFTER a long career as a guidance counselor in Ashland City Schools. He was a kind, compassionate, fun-loving, and devoted man who loved the Lord and touched thousands of lives. His devotion is apparent in his decision to be at work at the high school all day on Thursday and taken to the hospital Thursday night. I think most people would have followed doctors' recommendations to just stop working and live out his last days at home or with family. For Jerry, that wasn't an option. He lived his life serving others, and the 40 minute wait to pay respects to his family tonight is an indication of how deeply he will be missed. The impact he made is undeniable. Here's an article on him from the Ashland Times Gazette.
